Gateway parts into Emachines - Can this work?
Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 | Laptop Batteries
My Gateway 5-7 years old) died. The power supply died and took the processor with it, My sister has an Emachines that only has 4 gig memory and not sure about the other stuff. I know it’s older and slow as all get out.
Here are my questions - if I take out the parts that work in the Gateway, will they fit into the Emachines and help make her memory larger and her speed faster? Any other tips are welcome as well.
P.S. - we don’t have any money to put into this so please don’t suggest anything that would cost money. Thanks.

For the most part, yes - PCs use standardized parts for the most part, and so you should be able to yank a part out of one PC and put it into another. However, memory specs change more regularly than most other parts as far as compatibility goes, and so please do some research first before you do surgery.

Yes most computers are all the same. They just slap a different name on them. So yes parts off the gateway should work.
